Welcome to the first edition of the Howard Herald! Please see below for updates and reminders about our town policies. Our Town Board meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month (7:30 p.m.) at the Howard Town Hall—feel free to join us! (NOTE: Please see our website for any updates and/or meeting changes)

 

RECYCLING & GARBAGE

The recycling center is open the second and last Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

 

Recycling Policies

·         Steel and steel cans should be placed in the steel-only dumpster. Please remove labels and crush cans.

·         Aluminum cans should be crushed and placed in the trailer. Copper can also be placed in the trailer.

·         All co-mingled recycling should be free of plastic bags; the town receives an $88 fine per plastic bag incident.

·         You may recycle newspaper, office paper, cardboard, glass, and plastic. Newspaper/paper may be placed in paper bags. Plastic should be free of lids and thoroughly washed. Plastic that has contained oil of any kind cannot be recycled. Foam cannot be recycled.

·         Please see the town website or recycling attendant for recycling fees for large items (computers, televisions, etc.)

 

Garbage Costs

·         30-gallon bag of garbage = $3

·         55-gallon bag of garbage = $5

 

FIREFIGHTERS WANTED

Station 6 needs YOU! Our Howard Fire Department needs more volunteers. If you are 16 years of age and older and are interested in learning more about becoming a firefighter, please visit the district website at www.chippewafiredistrict.com or call Scott Bernette – Fire Chief at 715-723-5488 or 715-829-4400.

TOWN HALL RENTAL

Our town hall is available for rent ($150) – if you have an upcoming birthday party, anniversary gathering, or graduation party, please call Diane Hayes at 715-874-6145.
